Clay targets: FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At Corsivia we have been manufacturing clay targets for shooting since 1974. We are the company in the sector with the most know-how in the manufacture of clay targets using different raw materials (synthetic resins, natural resins, pitches, etc.).
We have a sales team that advises customers, listening to their needs and recommending the most suitable product for them.
A lot of these queries get repeated. So in this article we have decided to answer the most common questions.
Here we go!
Clay targets are made of approximately 75% limestone which means that the product is NOT biodegradable. However, all clay targets will break down over time.
For example, the Green Dream target, made with 100% natural pine resin, turns into nice white sand over time. The Green Dream clay targets, like the Eco Smart and the Olímpico Innova targets, are eco-certified by Bureau Veritas under ISO 14021.
The weight and size of the clay targets are fully standardised, even for the more exotic targets like the Midi, Battue or Rabbit.
The Corsivia clay targets (Olympic, Eco Smart and Green Dream) are suitable for all shooting disciplines (Trap shooting, Skeet shooting, Sporting Shooting and Simulated Game Shooting) and can be used with any trap machines on the market (Promatic, Mattarelli, Forniture Articoli Balltrap, Bowman Traps, Acorn Traps, Kromson).
They are suitable for use at any shooting range (Concaverde, EJ Churchill, BTC Ychoussois or Dornsberg Schützen e.V). In fact, Corsivia is the clay target supplier for ISSF and fitasc championships. It is also a brand approved by the Amateur Trapshooting Association.
Corsivia permanently holds stocks of finished product ready to be sent to any part of the world.
The clay targets are packed in boxes holding 150 units, made of top quality reinforced cardboard, with internal spacers, thereby guaranteeing the merchandise remains in good condition throughout the entire journey.
Shipment is made as soon as the order and the incoterms are agreed with the customer. Generally a 20-foot or 40-foot FLC (Full Load Container) is shipped. In the 40-foot containers the goods are sent in fumigated pallets. It is also possible to send the goods by road.
In all cases Corsivia guarantees the traceability of the order at all times.
Once the goods have been delivered, our logistics department contacts the customer to check they are satisfied with the service received and the quality of the product.
It is advisable not to expose the clay targets to high temperatures. Given the characteristics of their composition, they should not be left outdoors for long.
To keep the targets in good condition it is a good idea to store them in the shooting trench, next to the Mattarelli or Promatic traps.
For a Sporting or Simulated Game Shooting range, we recommend keeping a few boxes of clay targets next to the trap and storing the rest of the pallets in a shed for their correct conservation.
When loading the clay targets into the traps, we recommend loading the drums with special care to avoid knocking the product too much.
Once the clay targets are loaded, simply draw your shotgun (Beretta, Perazzi, Krieghoff, Blasser, etc.), load your favourite cartridges (Clever, Maxam, Nobel, Trust, Armusa, etc.) and enjoy the excellent visibility and breakage of the Corsivia targets.
In Spain we call them “platos de tiro”, while in America they refer to them as “platillos de tiro”. The French translation is “cibles” and in English they are called “clay pigeons” or “clay targets”. In Italy they are called “piattelli”.
